The de Gaulle watch has evolved and this is a new page of  a 60 years young legend that has just been written. It had taken years to  the Lip engineers to achieve and produce the first electric watch in 1956 which revolutionized the world of watchmaking at the time … Now, with this new Automatic watch Lip shows once again  its desire to evolve and adapt itself to the requests of its customers by giving a new mecanical and more contemporary heart to an iconical watch.
THE ELECTRICAL VERSION WAS A REAL QUEST
It is the need for accuracy that had pushed Lip to enter the race to discover the first electric watch. Albert Caquot, who had received « the grand cross of  the
Legion ofHonour » and,who was considered as the greatest French engineer of his the time said, « We have to get back to the invention of the lever escapement in the eighteenth century to recall of a discovery of an equivalant importance in watchmaking. »  This revolution was not made without effort since it took almost 8 years to the Lip engineers to be able to present the first electrical watch to the world and give it as a gift to the General de Gaulle who finally gave his name to a cutting edge watch. This technological « lip » has tranformed forever the watch industry, now divided between two worlds the electrical one and the mechanical one.
THE GDG AUTOMATIC : A VERY AWAITED WATCH
It’s by listening ot its audience that Lip decided to create this new automatic version that lifts even higher the overall quality of General de Gaulle watch model. The pleasure of wearing a watch powered byyour own movements is really something unique. The watch is already by nature an object very close to its owner who often maintains an almost emotional relationship with  his timepiece. Knowing that the heart of your watch beats thanks to the rythme of your life increases dramatically this intimacy. There is also of the second hand smoothness that is quite sublime to observe …
The Lip fans who have been waiting so impatiently for this new feature will be satisfied. It must be said that they have some serious reasons to be ! The case is in stainless steel,  the automatic movement has a reserve of charge of 42 hours, it has a butterfly clasp, and two versions of straps, the genuine leather one and the milanese one and of course gives time with great precision ! This is the kind of watch that can be worn at all times but always with a great elegance and an absolutely amazing story to tell to your friends…The story of a brand that has put France on the world map of the watchmakers with its electrical watch.

Baselworld, that’s it untill 2012

The international watch and jewelry fair show in Basel, Switzerland, has just closed its doors. For more than a week, the watchmaker Lip exposed its entire collection and presented a sneak pick of the new models which are scheduled for the second half of 2011 and 2012 with a total of over 150 models !
In a much calmer atmosphere regarding the creation and the economical results, Baselworld for Lip was alternately a friendly and authentic business flourished by meetings. Located in Hall 1, Lip welcomed over 400 visitors in its new stand…
Such as buyers, journalists, collectors, designers from Tokyo, New York, Malaysia, England, but also from Besançon and Paris ! Everyone came to see our new editions creations and designs, always original and financially accessible.
So that’s it until the 2012 edition ! we’ll hit the road and and keep the good work for Lip and its 145 candles !!!

The « Maison et objet » fair in subjective view…

First visit at the Maison et Objets fair in Paris…
My First impression: the immensity. The whole decoration trade concentrated in 8 huge halls. The most interesting are those that combine the designers in « Now Design à vivre »and the Hall 7 which includes the brands from » scenes d’interieur » understand « home scenes ».
Trends and patterns start from the two main halls with radical  and sometimes extravagant creations assorted with the glamor and style of great companies such as Kenzo Home.
The general trend is sleek and simple, geometrical shapes and basic materials. LIP has totally its place in this fair, where the reeditions are still valid (like the famous chairs « Tolix » in galvanized steel).
The meetings with the designers  from very different backgrounds were very productive.
The developments are organized around two main projects - a very feminine watch inspired by the design from the 50′s and and a very pure design that combines sleek lines and the effect of transparency.
Lip’s desire is to develop projects with strong and original concepts as close as possible to the brand’s principles and values.

NO BATTERY AND LIP’S DESIGN REMAINS !

The new automatic watches have now arrived!
Lip’s fans who’d been waiting for a a long time for the come back of the automatic watches are now satisfied : the new Lip’s generation is finally available. The watches heart is no longer fed by a battery but by the energy produced by your movements. Faithfull to it’s value, Lip leaves it’s foot prints in the watch industry’s world once more with unic designs and quality watches.
